Fall Trends 2012

Today I’m writing about something that you might not be ready to read. But what good would I be to you if I left you unprepared? So here goes.

Fall Trends

That’s right – Fall Trends. I know it’s probably stinkin’ hot out right now and Fall Trends are the last thing you want to think about, but while you’re figuring out ways to beat the heat, Fall’s new looks are slowly hitting the shelves.

If you want to be able to pick and choose your favorites of the season then you need to know what to look for and keep your eyes peeled before all the best pieces are sold out.

Before I begin, I want to let you know why I don’t typically choose images for my trend reports. There are so many options to choose from that I find myself with literally hundreds of favorites. It’s mentally and physically impossible for me to narrow it down, so it would really be a disservice to you and your internet provider to include all the images I love.

Shoes

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a bit of a shoe fiend, so I’m extremely excited about what’s happening with shoes this fall. While colourful shoes continue into the Fall, the colours are more jewel toned than the brights and pastels of Spring/Summer. Patterned shoes and pointy toes also continue as do menswear inspired styles. Shoe booties and ankle boots are also as big this Fall as they have been in the last few years.

If I was to pick just one type of shoe to buy this Fall, it would be a colourful ankle boot. Probably in red. Or maybe a pointy toed platform with a wild pattern. Then in my bag I’d have a pair of loafers or brogues because after a while my feet would probably start to hurt. See what I mean? I have no control.

Skinny Belts

I love me a wide belt. But for a while now skinny belts have been popping up everywhere I go and it doesn’t look like they’re leaving any time soon. And they’re bright and boldly coloured too. Probably just showing off.

Cobalt Blue

If Tangerine Tango was the colour of Spring/Summer 2012, then Cobalt Blue is the colour of the Fall/Winter season. Seen on runways around the world, this versatile colour is sure to be a hit amongst the masses. My pick? A pair of cobalt blue skinny jeans. Or maybe a cobalt blue blazer. A fabulous bag. No – skirt. Definitely a cobalt blue pencil skirt.

Fabrics

This Fall fabrics are rich, patterned and textured. Luxurious baroque, tweeds, large and small patterns, lace, velvet and leather abound. To top it all off, layering is back – but more sophisticated, less grunge than before.

There. That wasn’t so bad, was it? Now you have a heads up on what you might expect to see in your favorite shops. With a little planning, you will know exactly where you’ll want to spend your pennies and hopefully be able to find your must-haves in your size.

Wait! Knee high cobalt boots. What do you think? Too much?
